Think of the most rookie Christian teacher you know and the most seasoned vet, too. One thing they have in common is their complicated jobs. It can be overwhelming to both! There’s just so much required: instruction expertise, classroom management, interpersonal skills, organization, evaluation, and time management. While teaching has always been complex, the veteran will tell you that there was less pressure back in the days of more homogenous classes and less administrative scrutiny. Students had more similar skill levels, mostly appropriate behavior, and reliably supportive homes, especially in private schools. There’s no guarantee now. With every passing year, our kids are much more diverse academically, socially, emotionally, and culturally. The pressure to personalize education accordingly makes teaching even more daunting. It can really overwhelm even the best pro!
While our forbearers may have had less to deal with, they didn’t have the advantages of our access to resources and collaboration. We’re not stuck alone with limited teaching materials any longer. Sharing ideas and materials can really expedite the planning load and reduce the cost of materials. It sparks our creativity and makes it a whole lot easier to personalize for unique students.
That’s the whole idea behind Faith Markets – Christian teachers sharing the load. We’re so glad you’re part of it!
1 Peter 4:10 (ESV)
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another,
as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
